I recently had UPS attempt to deliver a package. I came home and found the note, which had several options that the UPS guy could check off. The only one checked for me started out, "We will make two more attempts to deliver this..." (or some such). One option that was not checked said that if I signed the note they'd leave the package. I called to ask about this, and they asked whether I lived in a house or an apartment. When I told them I lived in an apartment, they told me they would not leave the package, EVEN IF I SIGNED THE NOTE IN ADVANCE! They also wouldn't re-route the package to the company I work for, which was all of five miles from my apartment. They wanted another LOCAL address. I finally got my package, about a week later, at a friend's work address. I have since asked everyone who is likely to ship me something to use the post awful. -Dragon -- UUCP: ...ucbvax!dual!lll-crg!dragon ARPA: monica.cellio@cmu-cs-cad or dragon@lll-crg
