This situation *can* be fixed by Diety, but not with the "visifix" program. The nation database keeps a field called "pid" which is the current empire process number, and if this is non-zero, attempting to start the game produces the "schizo" message. Only the regular "empfix" program knows about this field. Visifix does not, at least in the version I have (circa March 1985).
