A spokesperson for the new group said that "Actors for AIDS" will stage benefits to raise money to help fund AIDS research. A friend of Mr. Hudson said, "Rock will be pleased. It's a shame that his benevolence--one of his favorite activities was donating blood to the Haitians-in-Hollywood Hemophilia Society--led to this illness." In a related development, the Center for Disease Control announced it would help "Actors for AIDS" by officially changing the name "AIDS" to "Rock Hudson's Disease." A spokesperson in Atlanta said, "Why not? It worked for Lou Gerhig's Disease, didn't it?"
