Astrophysics Lines: 16 Xref: watmath net.lang.f77:338 net.unix:5168 About three weeks ago, I posted a message asking whether anyone knew of a fortran compiler that would run under 4.2 BSD on a VAX and was faster than the standard f77. I have received no positive responses, which seems quite puzzling: here at astrovax, and at many other places, there is great demand for such a product. About all I did learn, and it can be taken as either good news or bad news, is that f77 runs about 20-30% slower than the VMS compiler, a "fast" one.
