I would like to take a chance and re-submit the request for any information on
fast, reliable FORTRAN compilers that will run under UNIX.

It is my understanding that one of the main problems contributing to poor execution times is the nature of the floating point library -- ie: all floating point is double precision.  Perhaps someone on the net knows of a replacement library available that has been optimized?

Please note, I am NOT looking for more UNIX vs. VMS benchmarks.  MDI is 
committed to UNIX as an operating system, and I must find an appropriate 
solution.
