It is my understanding that one of the main problems contributing to poor execution times is the nature of the floating point library -- ie: all floating point is double precision. Perhaps someone on the net knows of a replacement library available that has been optimized? Please note, I am NOT looking for more UNIX vs. VMS benchmarks.
