A few folks have pointed out the problems we are starting to see with 1) numerous name collisions and 2) more and more personal computers on networks, etc. as unique "sites." A recent posting to net.newsite gives an example of both. Not only do we have a site name used which is already used by a site in Montana, but we have not one but two home computers announced as news sites. Lest you think I am "The Grinch" or some other fiend who does not like kids, etc. let me assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. I just point this out as an example of what is wrong with the idea of a pathaliases data base containing paths to all known sites on all known nets. -Fred
