I have always had a problem with sendmail/pathalias optimizing a path I didn't want optimized. Sometimes, I want to see the message go through the entire path of machines, and other times I happen to know a few things about the route to the destination machine that pathalias doesn't know about (like hosts not necessarily in the pathalias tables). What I'd like to see is some flag which you could pass to sendmail, activated by some field in your mail message, something like: Optimize: n where n=0 for no optimization, n=1 for optimization. finer grades may also be included, if multiple levels of optimization are possible. -- Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.
