We have both a Signalman Mark XII and a Volksmodem. The former has been back to the modem hospital twice in its two year history. Each time I waited nearly a month before c}Getting em back. The Voldksmodem is only a month or so old. The Mark XII seems to be remarkably resistant to noise at 1200 baud, more so even Hayes in my experience. The Volksmodem has its troubles in this regard. On the other hand, the Volksmodem has a couple of handy switches that allow you to set how the modem handles the DTR and CD lines. hh
