An article in the July 22nd issue of Electronic News quotes Atari
VP of sales and marketing, James Copland:

Atari is currently shipping 520 ST systems to distributers. Current
shipments are at 25,000 systems/week gearing up to 30,000 systems/week
in 3 to 4 weeks. 

(On July 22nd, however, the west coast distributer has not recieved any
systems - and does not have a firm date from Atari as to when the
systems will arrive.)
