I shall not address the safety of this, wear and tear, certified sides, etc. (That's been discussed plenty.) However, the index holes are no problem. I have a batch of junk disks I experiment with. THREE holes now! One at about 1:00 for single-side drives, one at about 2:00 for regular double side (yep, that's how the drive can tell!), and one at 11:00 for flipping single-sided ones.
