Philips Information Systems. > ....philabs!micomvax!othervax!ray Under the ADAPSO key/keyring system, the software is not copy protected in any fashion. Therefore it can be installed on a network server (1 copy) and run from any compatible system on the network, **as long as the system running the software has a key that matches the software.** This works without any problem because the ADAPSO device is _not_ a copy protection device but an execution authorization device. (Login authorization, data access authorization, data encrypt/decrypt and so on too.) Most s/w manufacturers will only have one key version per product. In a case where you think they may have several key versions out, you could arrange to buy a copy with several matching keys (pricing up to the vendor, maybe a discount for cost saved in only giving one disk and manual?). Also, more keys could be purchased after the fact by knowing the key ID. Engage brain: If the copy on the net is for an IBM, and you have a non-IBM hooked to the net, please realize that just because you have a key doesn't mean the software will run. (I shudder to think of the support calls that will be generated from this type of foolishness) -- Opinions expressed are public domain, and do not belong to Lotus Development Corp. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Simcha-Yitzchak Lerner {genrad|ihnp4|ima}!wjh12!talcott!sesame!slerner {cbosgd|harvard}!talcott!sesame!slerner slerner%sesame@harvard.ARPA
