Gentle Giant did, indeed, split up back in the first part of 1981.  (I
remember because it was one of the few times the music industry press
payed them any attention.)  I posted a request a few years back asking if
anyone knew of what the members were doing (particularly Minnear and the
brothers Shulman), but received no replies.
