Is Heather the only one who >is folky enough to be an involved festivalite? No, luckily! What looks to be a really good festival is the newly revived Newport Folk Festival, on Aug 3 and 4 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI ( tickets are ~$16.50/day in advance, ~$18/day at the gate ). Featured musicians and groups include Greg Brown, Taj Mahal, Doc Watson, Arlo Guthrie, and Joan Baez; there will be about ten other performers, but their names escape me right now. The Newport Folk Festival used to be one of the biggest of the year, but the organizers quit around 1971 when the crowd from the nearby Newport Jazz Festival got too rowdy. ( I paraphrase this from an article about the festival ) I'll write a note to let you know how it turns out. Say your prayers for good weather! Jason Kerr real world: Digital Equipment Corp.
