PAiA in Oklahoma City OK makes a dinky synth called the micrognome.
It is a kit for about $60 and teaches fundamental synthesis ideas.
It has no keyboard (just a pointer and a tiny aread to slide it on)
and can probably not be effectively hooked up to one.  It has traditional
analogue controls.
