Most of the mail in this group over the last month has agreed that space concerns aren't really a problem as far as passing news along goes (since most sites poll their dependents daily and one day's news isn't all that voluminous). So I think that modifications like those Chuq suggested should be implemented so as to effect only the machine at which they are "on". For instance, truncating to 100 lines could occur only after the news has been passed on to other sites. Similarly for cross-posting restrictions - these could be built in to the readers. Such a solution would give each site a chance to make its own decisions, and not be overly affected by the actions of an SA at some site half-way across the US. -- Scott
