I am tentatively planning a trip back to that area next year (my hometown is some 20 miles from Alma), and thought that I might schedule it to take in the Games there. I have heard that they are pretty big, but then it seems that almost every Games advertises itself that way. I am curious about: location (held in a park, school, fairgrounds, etc), attendance (ex: Santa Rosa CA is expecting about 40-50K people to pass through this year), size of competitions (ex: Santa Rosa will have 30 pipe bands, down from past years), lodging (campgrounds, do motels tend to get filled up in the area?), weather (it's been *many* years since I've been in the Midwest), etc, etc.. Some of this information I can get from the Alma Chamber of Commerce and the Games Committee, but un-involved personal observations can be quite enlightening. None of the pipers nor Scottish vendors here have been to Alma. -- Bill Swan {ihnp4,decvax,allegra,...}!uw-beaver!tikal!persci!bill "Have you hugged your bagpipe today?"
