To Bell researchers:

I had occasion to research this family some years ago and will pass along
the following for what it is worth.  In the 17th and 18th centuries the
families of Beal and Beall in America were frequently pronounced Bell and
in fact many of the descendants of these Beal and Beall families changed
the spelling to Bell to more closely agree with the way it was pronounced.
