Platinum Blond ( a Canadian pop-rock band) has a new album out called
"Alien Shores", and I read this in the newspapaer today:
      "...the second side of the album is reserved for a conceptual suite...
       ..which chronicles the passage of a nomadic civilization from
       one planet to another"
Lead singer/idol Mark Holmes remarked that (in the same artcle):
      "I'm not saying it's about the human race, it's just a theory I've
       been kicking around about the possible origin of our species"

Hmmm, this is possibly the closest to SF some of those 
screaming teenage girls would get to.....
