     Just some thoughts on the issue of who should be the "initiator" in a 
relationship.  Very few of my friends would mind, and most would actually be
quite pleased, if a woman asked him out.  I refuse to go out with a woman who
doesn't at least initiate some of the time (in my mind, they are saying "Go
away, you bore me.").

     As for culturally defined roles in a relationship... I've always found
that a lot of the old curtisies (like opening doors, driving, etc.) are just
that.  I like feeling helpful, but it doesn't offend me when a woman opens a 
door for me.  In paying for dinner and movies, and other things, I've always
felt that treating is fun, and being treated is fun, and having to make
change to make sure that everything's 1/2 1/2 is a pain in the *ss.  I feel
that a good way to decide who pays is who asked!  Some of us have more
expensive tastes than others, and some of us have more money than others, so
if you can afford to take a friend, then do so, and don't expect to be paid
back exactly.  If someone offers, I accept, and then I ask them to come
along on something else.

     I guess what I'm trying to say is that not only don't I mind a woman
who will initiate activites, I refuse to go out with one that won't!  I also
love to play the roles that society pushes (switching them is especially
fun!!).  If a woman decides to play hard to get I won't be interested for
long, there are pleanty of other fish in the sea.--
