Scientists and engineers are (in)famous for relating better with their computer terminal (oops, my youth is showing--or slide rule) than with people. I see here people who recognize this, and want to change. I see here people who have been where I'm going, and who are going where I've been. I see people who are now learning the social language that 'the others' were learning in junior high, and who won't let themselves be stuck in a rut, people who are willing to take the risk of change. This is marvelous. This is what this group is all about. And I think we're teaching each other 'where it's at', and 'what it's all about.' To relate this to the quote ("You mean I HAVE to relate this???"), I'm just trying to say that I'm learning how. Sometimes we get beyond 'wht is properly done when', and say 'why?'. Or, even more often, 'why not?' If I can give a friend (same sex, opposite sex, WHO CARES???) an affectionate hug, without raising expectations I cannot fulfill, I will. It's that simple. ***Disclaimer*** This is not a flame on someone's viewpoint--not even a mild one. I just started thinking about the purpose and spirit of what we're doing here........and how I saw it. (maybe I should have included a *preach warning*!)
