As I remember it, in my high school years, the intelligent nerdy types
were ridiculed just as much as the dumb jocks. Only no one dared to 
make fun of the football teams starting defensive tackle to his face.
The most respected people were the well rounded ones who were athletically
proficient as well as moderately intelligent.
