Note indeed that it says *until* the next invocation of Pnews/Rnmail.
I wanted to be clever and typed the pathname of this file in reply to
Pnews question 'File to include (none): '.  Nope.  Didn't work.  Guess why?

cat: input /userfs2/abc/guido/News/.article is output

Moral: move $DOTDIR/.article to a safe place before fiddling with it.
