The NBC announcers mentioned that they didn't really have a truly standout for MVP, but I think choosing Hoyt was dumb. If he wouldn't have given up the sacrifice fly in the first inning (even though the run was unearned) I would say ok. As far as NL pitchers I think Nolan Ryan did the best. But my first choice would go to Jose Cruz for his dazzling catches in LF. Go Cubbies!
