During the All-Star game itself, NBC put up two 900 numbers for fans
to call up to register their sentinment regarding the DH.  Over
238,000 votes were cast (at $0.50 each, most were probably not repeat
callers :-)), and the DH LOST, 59% to 41%.  After having voted for
Mondale last fall, it was real nice to have my side win in a landslide
this time (of remarkable similar proportions!).  Besides, a president
is for four years, but baseball is forever...
