The poll was conducted by announcing the two numbers to call during
the all-star game!  As far as I know, NBC did not screen the
announcement from its affiliate in, say, Boston.

Perhaps doing this during an all-star game WAS biased.  After all,
AL fans may have given up tuning in by now... :-)
