LA is "out" there. Naturally you will be expected to pay homage at the San Jacinto Battlefield (that's where they yelled "Remember the Alamo!"). And don't forget NASA. *Texas Monthly* has listings of restaurants, theaters, museums, sports, etc. The Piney Woods and Big Thicket areas to the north are beautiful, as is the Gulf coast. Too bad you aren't visiting San Antonio and Austin, the Two Best Cities in Texas. Richard Carnes
