We are planning a backpacking trip in the Adirondacks in 
August, and would welcome tips on Your Favorite Place to go,
places to avoid, and so on.  We are the type of
backpackers who, while not severely wimpy, do tend to get passed by
Cub Scouts a lot.  We'll be out for about a week.

Also: we are (gulp) taking our dog: has anyone had any experience 
doing this?
