I'll have two, please! >Is it true that DEC is/will support System V and in what version ? This one I don't know. DEC will support Ultrix, which is a bugfixed and slightly faster 4.2. I assume they will do what most people do i.e. "acquire" the good bits of Sys V and port them to Ultrix. I would expect the kernel to stay BSD 4.[23]. System V.3 is due out soon as well so I guess that will get us all reeling. At least till we have proof that BSD is better still. >What will happen to DEC support of 4.2 BSD /4.3 BSD ? A new version of Ultrix (I think 1.1) is meant to be out soon (probably a few months after 4.3 gets unleashed :-) ). I do not think that the support situation will change. You seem to have more questions about UNIX than about VAXen. Or are my senses deceiving me ? ;-) PS: Lots of the above is based on *very* informal communication, ranging from heated arguments to raving in a drunken stupor. Therefore it only reflects what I remember. Hope it helps though. -- Love, Sebastian (Snoopy) "You haven't done it, till you've done it with pointers" \!mcvax\!unido\!ecrcvax\!snoopy /* N.B. valid csh address */
