Here at RPI we have installed rick's software also with no problems at
all.

However, up until now we have had either machines within the same room, or
machines that went through our data pbx...  I finally have to use a BOC
(that's Bell Operating Company for the unwashed) and I would like
some information:

What kind of lines have people ordered (I'm going 3 miles, over the Hudson),
and what kinds of modems are they using?

I'm looking at the Gandalf 9600 async modems and ordering a voice line but
I would like to know what other combinations people have experience with.
