Regarding Betamovies:

The BMC-550 Betamovie camcorder not only has a CCD image sensor, but can
record in SuperBeta (there's a switch, which I hadn't found earlier), and
can superimpose date, time and counter on the image.  Because of the lower
power drain, you get 90 minutes out of a battery rather than 60 on the
earlier models.  $1061 is a very good local price for the 550, though I've
seen ads for New York mail order firms with prices about $970.  My local
price for the 550 is more like $1400.

The 550 is definitely the one to get.  220s and even 110s are still
available at lower prices, but why bother?
