This mode prevents the screen from scrolling once it is full until the "scroll" key is hit or this mode is turned off. The sequence [ turns the hold-screen mode on. No doubt EDT sends this sequence frequently as part of it's control sequences to ensure that the mode is not inadvertantly left on. I have a working VT52 emulator which I wrote running on a pc, so if you have anyother queries I would be happy to try to answer them. Hop this is of some use to you!
