Message-ID: <4240@alice.UUCP> Date: Thu, 29-Aug-85 23:57:54 EDT Article-I.D.: alice.4240 Posted: Thu Aug 29 23:57:54 1985 Date-Received: Sat, 31-Aug-85 06:30:50 EDT Organization: Bell Labs, Murray Hill Lines: 18 We have a NAD 3080 receiver that we use essentially as a second power amp with a volume control to drive extension speakers in the kitchen and on the porch. (We're using an integrated amp for this because we bought it, used, from a friend who was upgrading at an excellent price) Recently, one channel started cutting out intermittently. Various tweakings revealed the problem was almost surely in the volume control; turning the volume control a little in either direction was often enough to restore things to normal for the time being. I finally got around to calling NAD about the problem. That day, my check for $10.05 was on its way to them; a week later I had a new volume control in my hands. An hour's worth of installation work and the problem is gone. (cross fingers) I get the feeling that audio manufacturers vary EXTREMELY widely as to how easy it is to get repair parts from them if you're not a dealer. Here's one that does it right.
