A Flordia judge threw out many speeding citations a few years back due to radar unreliability. Ever heard of the cases of radar saying that a road sign was going 80 mph?? It happens!! And most police officers don't know enough about proper interpretation of the radar readings. I will never drive without a detector again. I want to be *way* below the limit when I encounter a speed trap. I don't know if this is bragging, but I usually drive about 75 on the open freeway. The interstates are designed with 80 mph in mind: the 55 limit is just a bureaucratic crock. To quote Car and Driver: "Speed doesn't kill.
