I happened to think of a mildly bizarre item found at my alma mater, BYU.
[Go Cougars! Sorry, wrong newsgroup...Chris Grevstad, listen up; I know
you're out there.]  There is a science building which has a statue of its
namesake, Carl Eyring, in front of it.  As a BRONZE PART OF THE STATUE,
not as an addon or someone's prank, there is ivy going up one of his legs.
(I never tried to find out the reason for that, though.)
