		DEFIANT SNAKE HANDLER DIES

GREENEVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 19 (AP) - A man who was free on bond after
being charged in North Carolina with illegally handling snakes died
today of a rattlesnake bite on the thumb, the authorities said.
Charles Prince, 45 years old, was bitten here Saturday at the
Apostolic Church of God and refused treatment, said Sheriff Gail Colyer
of Greene County.  Mr. Prince had vowed to defy laws against the
religious practice of snake handling.
