Actually, I believe it was (solely?) Dave Cockrum's idea. He was drawing the Legion when they began to "take over" the Superboy book (the original one), and was responsible for much of the re- surgence of the group at that time. The most striking similarities between the Legion and the Imperial Guard are the *visual* ones... I really loved Cockrum's work on the Legion (followed incidently, by my first exposure to Mike Grell). I think all his recent stuff pales in comparison--even his work on the X-Men. Who was inking Cockrum on the Legion? Himself? Or did his style change THAT much in a short period? (This was before inkers were routinely creditted on the splash page...) Query: "Pokey?" Scott J.
