A case in point. When I was on active duty in the Navy I was an aircrewman in the E-2B aircraft. (Navy's carrier based AWACS). We had ashtrays that were not functional that cost $300 for the crew ashtray and $900+ for the pilot's. There were numerous parts, plastic switchcaps etc that cost thousands of times what they should have. Ok everybody has heard about this by now, it now has news value. In 1976 I wrote a series of letters to various congressmen and senators giving them FSN's (Federal stock numbers) part descriptions and short discussion about why I thought these items were far overpriced. Out of the letters (I may have written to your congress- man or senator since I didn't stop with mine) I recieved **NO** replys. Now however I see some of these same "servants" of the people getting much media milage out of this issue. Some people may say at least this issue got addressed. I say bullshit, these charlatons that parade around "serving" the people are nothing more than businessmen going about the business of 1) getting reelected 2) getting rich. If you don't belive that look and see how many members of the senate and congress have become millionaires while in office. I believe this is just the tip of the iceberg, we have no idea what these guys are concealing until they believe that they can get some sort of "good" publicity out of it.
