Message-ID: <266@decwrl.UUCP> Date: Tue, 3-Sep-85 06:25:50 EDT Article-I.D.: decwrl.266 Posted: Tue Sep 3 06:25:50 1985 Date-Received: Wed, 4-Sep-85 06:36:14 EDT Sender: daemon@decwrl.UUCP Organization: Digital Equipment Corporation Lines: 47 The point is to view the world from the perspective of one's ideology and fit the 'facts' into that framework and from there work up a really rightous indignation against the 'dark forces' at work among the other trash minds who have a different ideology. Remember, bigots sleep well at night! A place for everything and everything in it's place. The $3,046. coffee maker . . . it's on a C-5 aircraft, built to carry up to 365 troops. Delta and TWA buy similar coffee makers for $3,107 ea. IGNORE EVERYTHING ELSE BUT THE PRICE!! Because that FITS of course. The $435. claw hammer . . . there are 13 MILLION contracts let by the Defense Department each year to over 300,000 contractors . . .this error was caught by a Navy employee and the contractor refunded the price. Last year the department bought more than 80,000 claw hammers at $6 and $8 ea. The $640. toilet seat . . . is not a toilet seat but a heavy molded plastic cover for the entire toilet system of the P-3 aircraft. The toilet seats themselves cost only $9.37 ea. The contractor refunded 85% of the cost of the cover when the department stopped the purchase. The $659. ashtrays . . . for the E-2C aircraft. Grumman had to custom make a small number for the aircraft and was losing money at that price. The Navy could not make the same thing for less than $900 on its own shops. Remember automakers, making huge quantities, charge $100 for an ashtray in your car. VIRTUALLY EVERY SINGLE CASE OF FRAUD AND ABUSE UNCOVERED AND FLAMED BY THE MEDIA (and in net.flame) HAS BEEN UNCOVERED BY THE DEFENSE DEPARTMENT'S OWN OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL FIRST!!! Ignore all the above (except for the prices) since they are not included in 'all the news (and views) that's fit to print!! Golly, why haven't we heard about this other side to the problem, this other perspective, this additional information about the cases sited with so much rightous indignation in the press and the little liberal think-sync minds abroad in the land?? BECAUSE IT DOESN'T FIT THE IDEOLOGY OF COURSE!! Aren't you glad I can clear this up for you?? Of course you are. Those who read the 'right stuff' know where I got my information, eh? Keep chargin' Ken Arndt
