On the contrary, it is a pretty good substitute for the camera. Now the fighter and the knight have a way to get out of trouble when surrounded. Many people know what it is like to be surrounded by orcs or killer bees and be able to flash the camera in their eyes and run away while they were all wandering around. I always considered a camera essential to a great game. But now, I have won with a fighter, which I used to consider one of the weaker classes. I have done the same with a caveman. With Elbereth doing what it does now, you can really take advantage. I regret not trying this while I was in a hive, but I would think you could use Elbereth to clear out a bee hive and then take all the royal jelly. It works pretty well for clearing out a treasure zoo, though, provided there is no leprechaun in the room. -- Mark Wutka Office of Computing Services Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta, Ga. ...!{akgua,allegra,amd,hplabs,ihnp4,masscomp,ut-ngp}!gatech!gitpyr!wutka ...!{rlgvax,sb1,uf-cgrl,unmvax,ut-sally}!gatech!gitpyr!wutka Official member of NERDS (NERDS Existing in a Recursively Defined System)
