I was wondering if others who maintain and care for their houseplants are afflicted with the appearance of tiny fruit-fly like flies all around their plants? I use my own recipe of potting soil, made up of a sterilized soil base, vermiculite, perlite, peat moss, and other organic fertilizers. I think that these little flies might be originatinig from the soil, although they tend to appear even in soil that I don't provide. My current solution is plant insecticide spray. Although I prefer not to use chemicals, I just can't stand those annoying little creatures. I don't know if they are hurting my plants - I can't see effects - but they certainly drive me crazy. (And, they're inside my apartment.) Does anyone have suggestions for: - getting rid of them, - avoid getting them, and - other alternatives. Please mail responses and I will summarize for the net. Thanks in advance. Marla Guthrie {ihnp4,houxm}!piggy!msg
