I was trying to run "uucp" between two computers at work, one of which is a VAX with a Micom data switch on the front end. The Micom prompts users with "ENTER CLASS", according to the type of usage and/or terminal the user has. Since "uucp" wasn't working properly I gave it the option to print debugging output. Among the output, "uucp" will tell you what login string it was expecting from the other computer and then the string it actually got. Since you can leave off the first few characters of an expected login string, "uucp" naturally told me: wanted ASS Unfortunately, that data line wasn't working, so it never got any... -- Back on the freeway, which is already in progress, Allen Grabert (...ittatc!bunker!allen)
