Message-ID: <272@decwrl.UUCP> Date: Tue, 3-Sep-85 10:28:23 EDT Article-I.D.: decwrl.272 Posted: Tue Sep 3 10:28:23 1985 Date-Received: Wed, 4-Sep-85 07:13:28 EDT Sender: daemon@decwrl.UUCP Organization: Digital Equipment Corporation Lines: 17 [] Whenever I use want to use a check at a business establishment, they always ask for drivers liscense and a major credit card. They then proceed to plaster my credit card number all over the back of my check, which makes me very uncomfortable. Why is it that they need the number for 'identification purposes only" ?? Several times I have offered to SHOW the person my credit card, to verify my identity, but have refused to let them write my number on my check. When they say they need the number for identification, I tell them that I will shop someplace else, and they usually back down. Can someone let us know what happens to a check from the time you write it until the time you get it back from the bank ?? How many people see the check before you get it back ?? Is it a good idea for all these people to have access to my credit card number. ?? DMC@DEC
