Optical Astronomy Observatories, Tucson, AZ USA Lines: 18 Xref: linus net.micro:10527 net.micro.pc:4910 I have recently put together an Ampro little board/186 system with two Teac FD-55B floppy disk drives. Unfortunately, the manual I have for the drives seems to refer to an earlier model; the jumpers on my disks (which are labelled FD-55BV) are very different from what is documented. It is pretty easy to figure out the drive select jumpers; but what I really want to do is to change the drives so the heads are loaded whenever the motor is on instead of whenever the drive is selected (that's what Ampro recommends and I'm also having trouble with trashed disk blocks on freshly written files). On my Teac FD-55BVs there is a row of jumpers with the markings DS0, DS1, DS2 and DS3 (obviously the disk select lines), a second row with markings U1, U2, HL and IU and an isolated jumper marked FG. The drive came with jumpers on the FG and IU locations. Does anyone have any information on these jumpers? -- Steve Grandi, National Optical Astronomy Observatories, Tucson, AZ, 602-325-9228 {arizona,decvax,hao,ihnp4,seismo}!noao!grandi noao!grandi@lbl-csam.ARPA
