Cellular phone cell handoffs generally cause a pretty good CLICK.
It might well be enough to drop many modems.  I don't think that
many handoffs are going to occur (if any!) when you're stationary,
however.

Sometimes handoffs don't work at all.  These are the notorious
"black holes" that many users have complained about in many metro
areas...
