Everyone should upgrade. Nice package. >Has anyone gotten a Hayes to work right? Or am I just missing something >obvious?? Yes, the AT&T Unix System Support Center in Lisle have got a Hayes modem to work "right" (i.e. either direction without re-config). As the Hayes was not designed to operate in this manner, it necessitated a kluge of moderate proportions. Their phone number is (800) 222-9333. They would be happy to sign you up for a support contract. The easier / recomended approach is to purchase a modem that is capable of operating the way you want without kluging something up. My favorite is the AT&T 2224B 300/1200/2400 bps modem. The 300/1200 bps ACU/modem for the 3B2 manufactured by Penril is satisfactory, as well. I have been using the Penril for several months with no problems. I now have 2 2224Bs on order (after checking them out). Good luck.
