I am able to use it interactively just fine. Anytime I attempt to pass a file to the standard input it does two things: 1) creates a second copy of cu which sits there. 2) the first process of cu uses about 3 minutes of cpu time and then panics the system, fixed only with a re-boot (sigh). It also took me a while to figure out I best trash the LCK..ph1 file in the uucp directory if I ever wanted to seem my data port alive again. (sigh). Passing what comes into the machine over to a file (re-direct std output) will wait for lesson two.
