At our department we are planning to buy new terminals/workstations (I can't wait to throw my old ugly VT100 out the window) for our UNIX-system. One alternative is SUN workstations, but this is a costly one. As I have a Mac myself I would not mind using a Mac with a large screen as my terminal/work- station (I think the screen of today is to small to use for regular work, I guess it would kill ones eyes). Other related important questions are networking and fileservers. I think I would prefer one large hard disk used as a server rather than having one small hard disk for every Mac (is it reasonable?). I tried to get some information from Apple, Sweden, but they were not willing to say anything about what is to come, unless we were prepared to talk OEM-quantities. Maybe there are some Apple-people out there that recently looked into the crystal ball, and are more willing to say what they saw. -- Goeran Baage goran@erix.UUCP {seismo, decvax, philabs}!mcvax!enea!erix!goran Phone: +46 8 719 9993 Mail: TN/XT/DU LM Ericsson S-126 25 STOCKHOLM Sweden
