        If you're looking into the male, DB-9 connector from the
        outside, around at the back, the pins are numbered like this:

                          2|.  |
                           |  .|7
                          3|.  |
                           |  .|8
                          4|.  |
                           |  .|9
                          5|. /
                           |/

        The parallel port connector is oriented the same way and
        is directly below the DB-9.
