The reason the sign at the mall is changed from "Twin Pines Mall" to
"Lone Pine Mall" is because when Marty goes back in time and ends up
in Mr. Peabody's barn, when he takes off in order to keep from getting
filled full of buckshot, he runs over one of Mr. Peabody's two pine
trees.  Thus when he returns to the present, the name of the mall had
been changed to reflect the destruction of that pine tree.       

(Did anybody hear the little kid yelling for his father...Mr. Peabody...
to "Quick!! Shoot it while it's in human form!!!"  when Marty was coming
out of the barn??  That was one of my favorite lines...)
