Do you really think that music was "ruined" in that scene?  I've
always thought og that as one of the BEST uses of music in a movie
I've ever seen.  Two things to remember, the incident portrayed
was a true one, and that song was (I think) a big hit that Xmas (1945?).
It has always made "The Victors", to me at least, one of the greatest
anti-war movies ever made.  Oh well, we are all allowed our own opinion.

BTW, if you really want to talk about "ruined music", how about "Singing
in the Rain" in "A Clockwork Orange"?
